I fucking love the Olympics

So much drama, so much passion, so much culture all in one. I watched the semi-final of the women’s 200m yesterday and was interested in the woman from Bahrain who ran in a what looked like sweatpants to comply with Muslim custom. Apparently her outfit is a combo of a “burqini” and a “hijood.”

Doesn’t it just not seem fair that she has to wear this:

And the dudes from Bahrain get to wear this?

Well, I guess those are the rules.

    Dude,

Equal does NOT mean same. Men and women are equal but NOT the same !! Once this concept is cleared, many common misconceptions about women in Islam can be cleared.

Women are different in several aspects to men, ( please do not misunderstand me. I am not implying that they are worse… just saying that they are different ) one of them being the physique. Hence there are different requirements for women in terms of clothing to men.

Take mobile phones for example. Different models have different covers, don’t they !! You can’t take the cover for nokia 6020 and fit apple’s iPhone in it can you !? Then why do you insist on having the same clothing for both men and women.

Besides… religiously speaking, you’ll be surprised to know how much freedom Islam gives to women compared to the others like christianity, judaism etc. Study all three faiths and then make a judgement for your self.

    Here’s something for starters…

No offense though, but there is no “fairness” to this. Muslim women cover, guys do not cover the same body parts. Indeed if anything, she chose to wear hijab and cover her body, technically no one is forcing her to. If you ask me, that’s more fair than anything for a woman.
